Win Rate

Also known as: Competitive win rate

The share of competitive deals you win — overall, and against each named rival. The single most direct scoreboard of competitive performance.

Definition

Win rate is wins divided by decided competitive opportunities over a period. The headline number matters less than its cuts: win rate against each named competitor, by segment, by deal size, and over time. A healthy overall rate can hide a collapsing rate against one fast-improving rival — exactly the pattern that precedes losing a market.

Definitions require honesty. Counting only deals that reached late stages inflates the number; counting disqualified leads deflates it; and "no decision" outcomes — often the biggest bucket in B2B — deserve their own line, because losing to inertia is a different problem than losing to a rival.

Win rate is a lagging indicator: by the time it moves, the cause is months old. Its value multiplies when paired with leading indicators — competitor product velocity, pricing moves, positioning shifts — so a dip can be traced to what changed, not just observed.

Why it matters for competitive intelligence

Win rate against a specific competitor is the ground truth your battlecards and positioning must answer to. Tracking the rival's moves alongside it is what lets you explain the trend instead of just reporting it.

How Rivalize helps

Rivalize supplies the "what changed on their side" timeline — launches, repricings, positioning shifts — that turns a win-rate movement from a mystery into a diagnosis.

Why not just use ChatGPT?

Prompts guess. Rivalize knows.

15-25% of teams use AI prompts for competitive research. Here is why that approach falls short.

Real scraping, not hallucination

We scrape 40+ actual pages per competitor. AI prompts guess from training data that may be months or years out of date.

Source attribution on every claim

Every data point links to where we found it. Prompts cannot cite sources because they do not access real-time data.

Monitoring, not one-shots

Rivalize tracks changes over time and scores momentum trends. Prompts give you a snapshot that is already stale by the time you read it.
