Pricing Intelligence

The systematic tracking and analysis of competitor pricing — levels, metrics, packaging, discounts, and changes over time — as an input to your own pricing and deals.

Definition

Pricing intelligence turns competitor pricing from an occasionally-Googled fact into a maintained dataset: what each rival charges, on what metric, in which tiers, with which gates, and — the part no snapshot can give you — how all of that has changed over time. The historical dimension is where the strategy reads live: a rival's pricing history shows their upmarket drift, their response to pressure, and their testing cadence.

In B2B SaaS the visible price is only part of the object: packaging (which features live in which tier) often moves more than the number, and the gap between list price and street price (discounting behaviour, visible in win/loss data) tells you how much pricing power a rival actually has.

The operational uses are direct: sales needs current competitor pricing for deals today; pricing committees need the time series to position changes; finance needs it to model competitive TCO claims that hold up.

Why it matters for competitive intelligence

Pricing decisions made against remembered competitor prices are made against fiction — pricing pages change quietly and often, and the delta is where deals are won and lost.

How Rivalize helps

Rivalize maintains the pricing time series for tracked competitors: current state, change history, and packaging moves, each change dated and cited to the page it was read from.

Why not just use ChatGPT?

Prompts guess. Rivalize knows.

15-25% of teams use AI prompts for competitive research. Here is why that approach falls short.

Real scraping, not hallucination

We scrape 40+ actual pages per competitor. AI prompts guess from training data that may be months or years out of date.

Source attribution on every claim

Every data point links to where we found it. Prompts cannot cite sources because they do not access real-time data.

Monitoring, not one-shots

Rivalize tracks changes over time and scores momentum trends. Prompts give you a snapshot that is already stale by the time you read it.
